The Montreal Canadiens shared a social media video on Thursday morning showing Zach Bolduc highlighting the date November 2nd. Although the short teaser did not explicitly state the project, the franchise simultaneously released the schedule for when the team will wear its alternate Hometown Remix jersey.
Hometown Remix Jersey Schedule
The club will don the alternate sweater on 10 occasions during the season, consisting of two away games and eight contests on home ice. The schedule begins on November 3 against the Winnipeg Jets, followed by home games against the Toronto Maple Leafs on November 7, the Boston Bruins on November 12, and the Colorado Avalanche on November 14.
The jersey appearances continue on November 23 against the Los Angeles Kings, December 8 against the Vegas Golden Knights, and December 27 against the Dallas Stars. The team will wear the sweater again when facing the Bruins on January 6, the Calgary Flames on January 23, and concluding on March 28 against the Detroit Red Wings.
Looking Past Past Jersey Curses
The organization hopes the new design avoids the misfortune associated with the two previous Reverse Retro sweaters worn during the 2020-21 dark blue edition and the 2022-23 baby blue edition.
Head coach Martin St-Louis previously voiced his dislike for the non-traditional sweaters, remarking in 2023 about the historic significance of the standard red and white uniforms.
“I think the hockey gods, you know, this is a historical franchise, you probably have some guys who wore that jersey 50 years ago, red and white, right? They’re probably looking down on us: ‘What are you guys doing in blue?’ So, we probably get what we deserve with the blue jerseys, given how historic this franchise is. […] I don’t know what next year brings, but I hope it’s not those jerseys,” St-Louis stated at the time.
If leaked images prove correct, the upcoming uniform eliminates the blue entirely, with the official design set to be unveiled on November 2.
