New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson has been sidelined since last week due to an unspecified illness listed on the team injury report. He missed the Week 8 matchup against the Miami Dolphins and has remained absent from practice throughout the week.
Addressing the Medical Condition
On Friday morning, Henderson issued a statement via Twitter detailing his recent health struggles. He explained that he recently suffered an unexpected medical emergency characterized by a series of unexplained neurological symptoms, leading to a multi-day hospitalization and comprehensive medical evaluations.
“While the results of my comprehensive medical testing have come back positive and reassuring, the cause of this remains unknown and unexplainable,” Henderson stated.
The running back noted that he is collaborating with specialists and physical therapists to work through recovery, noting that the condition has impacted his strength, coordination, and physical functions. He emphasized that his long-term health and well-being are his top priorities.
Henderson expressed gratitude to his wife, family, medical personnel, teammates, agents, and the New England Patriots organization for their ongoing support and prayers, while requesting privacy as he focuses on healing.
Impact on the Patriots
Henderson is expected to remain sidelined for the foreseeable future, with a return to the field dependent on doctors identifying the root cause of his symptoms and treatment plan. Over the course of this season, he has recorded 52 rushing attempts for 203 yards and one touchdown, alongside five receptions for 45 yards. During his rookie campaign last year following a high second-round selection in the 2025 NFL Draft, he accumulated 1,132 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns.
The Patriots will continue utilizing Rhamondre Stevenson as their primary running back during Henderson’s absence, with backup support coming from Corey Kiner and Lan Larison. The team prepares to face the Green Bay Packers and Detroit Lions in the next two weeks ahead of their bye, followed by a schedule featuring games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, Kansas City Chiefs, New York Jets, Denver Broncos, and Dolphins.
