The UFC heavyweight championship is on the line in one of combat sports’ most legendary venues. Ciryl Gane and Josh Hokit collide in Madison Square Garden on Saturday, accompanied by one of the most significant women’s fights in history at UFC 334.
Heavyweight and Co-Main Event Matchups
The heavyweight division is stabilizing after years of turbulence caused by Francis Ngannou’s departure, Jon Jones’ retirement, and Tom Aspinall’s eye injury. Following his knockout win over Alex Pereira at The White House, newly crowned heavyweight champion Ciryl Gane is eager to increase his activity. His first challenger, Josh Hokit, rapidly advanced from a UFC debutant to a title contender within a single year after securing a Fight of the Year frontrunner against Curtis Blaydes.
Saturday’s co-main event features a historic clash as Kayla Harrison takes on Amanda Nunes. Harrison is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in judo, a UFC titleholder, and a two-time PFL tournament winner, entering her first bout following career-threatening neck surgery. Amanda Nunes, widely regarded as the greatest women’s MMA athlete of all time, returns from a three-year retirement with a resume featuring victories over Ronda Rousey, Valentina Shevchenko, Cris Cyborg, Holly Holm, Germaine de Randamie, and Miesha Tate.
