Sunderland striker Brian Brobbey has committed his future to the club by signing a new five-year contract, as announced by the team. The 24-year-old has been a major success at the Stadium of Light since making the move from Ajax last summer.
Recent Performances and Upcoming Fixtures
During his time on Wearside, Brobbey has netted 10 goals across 38 Premier League appearances while also creating numerous chances through his powerful hold-up play. Sunderland currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League standings, making his decision to stay a crucial boost ahead of Thursday’s Europa League fixture against Dinamo Zagreb and Sunday’s match against Chelsea.
Expressing his thoughts to the club’s official website, Brobbey stated, “I’m really happy with the confidence the club has shown in me. Since I arrived, I’ve felt the ambition here, and I want to keep growing and improving as a player.”
He continued, “Representing Sunderland in the Premier League is both an honour and a privilege. Having played my part in helping this club qualify for European competition is something I’m incredibly proud of. It’s an achievement that will always be part of the club’s history.”
Brobbey also noted, “I know I still can be a better version of myself, and that’s what motivates me every day. I want to score goals, help the team and give our fans something to be proud of.”

He also earned a spot in the Netherlands squad for the World Cup, delivering strong performances with three goals in three matches across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
