Real Madrid secured their sixth consecutive win in all competitions with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Racing Santander. The result keeps Carlo Ancelotti’s team within three points of league leaders Barcelona at the top of the LaLiga table.
Controversial Penalty Opens the Scoring
According to 101 Great Goals, the visitors broke the deadlock in the 11th minute under contentious circumstances. Kylian Mbappe converted a penalty kick after going down in the penalty area under minimal contact from Racing defender Matteo Prati. Despite video assistant referee reviews, the decision stood, allowing Mbappe to score from 12 yards out. With this strike, Mbappe has now found the net against all 24 LaLiga clubs he has faced since moving to Madrid.
Bellingham and Diomande Extend the Lead
Racing Santander attempted an immediate response when Iker Luque forced returning goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois into a strong save. However, the hosts doubled their advantage 10 minutes after the first goal when Arda Guler played Jude Bellingham through on goal. The England midfielder maintained his composure to round goalkeeper Julen Agirrezabala and finish into the net.
Yan Diomande then added a third goal before the 36-minute mark to put the match out of reach. Following a cleared corner kick, Diomande struck a powerful volley from the edge of the area into the top-left corner, leaving Agirrezabala with no chance.
Second-Half Control and Upcoming Fixtures
Agirrezabala made several saves after the interval to prevent Guler from extending the lead further, while Mbappe hit the post and shot over the crossbar shortly after the hour mark. Racing were awarded a penalty for a handball against Aurelien Tchouameni, but the decision was overturned following a VAR review because Tchouameni’s arm was in a natural position.
In the closing stages, Bellingham had a second goal disallowed for offside, and substitute Endrick curled an effort wide during stoppage time. Real Madrid will next travel to face AEK Athens in the UEFA Champions League before meeting Valencia in LaLiga.
