Yuto Katsuragawa captured his second DP World Tour title after claiming a two-stroke victory at the Genesis Championship in South Korea on Sunday. The Japanese golfer finished the tournament at 13 under par following a final round of even-par 71 at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club, despite finishing with a bogey.
Tournament Finish and Standings
Katsuragawa held off the competition after shooting a flawless eight-under 63 in the third round to tie the course record. The 28-year-old finished two shots ahead of French runners-up Frederic Lacroix, who shot a 68, and Martin Couvra, who carded a 69.
The victory significantly improves Katsuragawa’s standing, moving him from 106th to 28th in the Race to Dubai Rankings and securing his playing privileges while earning him spots in the upcoming Rolex Series events in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
Casey Jarvis of South Africa entered Sunday in second place but slipped back into a tie for fourth at 10 under after shooting a 72. Jarvis shared fourth place with seven other competitors, including Open champion Ryan Fox, who shot a 70.
Eugenio Chacarra, who holds the top spot in the standings following a win in India the previous week, finished seven shots back at six under in a tie for 22nd. Patrick Reed and Rory McIlroy did not participate in the tournament.
Katsuragawa Reflects on Victory
Katsuragawa described his achievement, stating, “After the first win, I had such a hard time, struggling with that time, but having the second win, this is definitely the greatest moment of my life.”
He added, “I was nervous, not just for the victory but also about the seed for the DP World Tour so it was double nervous for me, but I think I got through. I had a good image from the first victory, I just kept that good feeling about it and I came for the second win. I’m very happy because to play on the DP World Tour is something I need in my life and I am very happy to play in Dubai.”
John Catlin Wins Hong Kong Open
In another event on Sunday, John Catlin secured a five-shot victory at the Hong Kong Open to earn invitations to both the 2027 Masters and the Open Championship.
The American player shot a final-round 64 at the Hong Kong Golf Club to finish at 20 under par, five strokes ahead of Matthew Cheung of Hong Kong and Kalle Samooja of Finland, who both shot 67s. Lee Westwood finished 10 shots behind the winner following a final-round 69.
Catlin stated, “It’s hard to put it into words. It was an event that I felt like I could do well at that I hadn’t really done well in the previous years. And so to come out and play some really, really, really solid golf and get the job done is very, very special. Anytime you can be on a trophy with some of the greatest players to ever play the game, you know I just feel very humbled and very grateful.”
The Hong Kong Golf Club hosted the tournament for the 65th consecutive year, marking it as the only golf championship outside of the Masters held at the same venue for such a duration.
