Northwestern Shows Off Menu and Features at New Ryan Field

Northwestern University’s newly opened New Ryan Field features a variety of unique dining options and modern amenities for attending fans. A video by Front Office Sports’ Stadium Eats recently highlighted several standout concession menu items available at the 35,000-seat venue.

Top Concession Menu Items and Dining Areas

Among the highlighted menu items is an eight-inch-long mozzarella stick from Dimmi Baby, alongside the “Grid Iron” grilled cheese from Goatdown. The specialty grilled cheese features three types of cheeses combined with caramelized onions and kimchi served on sourdough bread. Goatdown also serves a cheesesteak containing shaved ribeye, cheese, caramelized onions, mustard, and giardiniera inside an Italian baguette.

These food choices are located in the Northwest Plaza at The Village, a designated culinary district featuring a selection of local establishments. Additional food choices are available in the Southwest Plaza close to the tailgating area, where offerings shift from game to game and range from burgers to corn roasters. During Northwestern’s 45-15 victory against Ball State in early October, the venue featured an Oktoberfest theme that included grilled brats.

Stadium Design and Upcoming Games

Neighborhood restaurants from Evanston and Wilmette operate pop-up stands across the concourses inside the stadium. Concession areas are purposefully positioned so that fans standing in line maintain a view of the action on the field, and orders can also be placed directly through the stadium app.

Northwestern opened the facility following years of anticipation. The $875 million project was privately funded by university donors from the Ryan family, and the student section features aluminum bleachers accommodating 2,000 placeholders instead of traditional seats.

The Wildcats hold a 6-2 record at the venue and will host the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday.
