The latest MLB offseason rumors highlight veteran pitcher Max Scherzer evaluating his future, free-agent infielder Ty France generating interest, and a top Taiwanese reliever entering the market.

Max Scherzer Considers Career Extension

Future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer will participate in informal offseason games to evaluate whether he wants to continue playing, as reported by the New York Post. These workouts take place ahead of the collective bargaining agreement expiration at 11:59 p.m. ET on Dec. 1, where players from opposing teams gather to stay sharp.

Scherzer, 42, made 18 starts hampered by injuries with the Blue Jays this past season. He finished his campaign strongly by striking out seven batters over seven innings of one-run pitching in Game 162. He currently ranks ninth on the all-time strikeout list with 3,557, sitting just three strikeouts behind his former Tigers teammate Justin Verlander.

Ty France Draws Multi-Team Interest

Free agent Ty France has attracted attention from multiple major league organizations, according to The Athletic, and an agreement could materialize rapidly. France enjoyed a career-best season after adjusting his batting stance to unlock greater hard-hit potential, complementing his standout defensive abilities at first baseman.

While specific interested franchises remain unnamed, potential landing spots include the Diamondbacks, Guardians, Mets, Rangers, and Padres. Due to his breakout performance and a scarcity of right-handed power across the league, France is positioned to secure a multi-year contract.

Fubon Guardians Post Reliever Jyun-Yue Tseng

The Fubon Guardians of the Chinese Professional Baseball League have officially posted right-handed relief pitcher Jyun-Yue Tseng for Major League Baseball clubs, according to the Associated Press. While official rules give Tseng until Dec. 22 to finalize a contract, the anticipated lockout effectively moves his signing deadline up to Dec. 1.

Tseng, 25, represented Chinese Taipei in both the 2023 and 2026 World Baseball Classic tournaments. During the recent season, he recorded 25 saves alongside a 1.80 ERA and 52.3 innings pitched, racking up 65 strikeouts. His fastball typically registers in the mid-90s and has touched 100 mph, though scouts note his secondary offerings require refinement to develop beyond a middle-relief role in the majors.
