Mexico City GP Straight Mode Zones Explained

Mexico City GP Straight Mode Zones Explained

Formula 1 returns to the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, bringing a unique aerodynamic configuration known as Straight Mode to the Mexico City circuit.

How Straight Mode Operates

Straight Mode serves as a distinct aerodynamic setup designed to minimize drag, allowing vehicles to achieve greater efficiency during acceleration toward maximum velocity. The mechanism functions similarly to the previous Drag Reduction System by opening a gap in the rear wing, while simultaneously adjusting the front wing. The topmost elements of the front wing lower at the exact moment the upper element of the rear wing opens.

Drivers utilize this mode on every single dry lap within specifically designated sections of the circuit. The vehicle continuously transitions between two distinct configurations based on its location, delivering maximum downforce through corners and reduced drag along the straight sections.

Circuit Zones in Mexico City

The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez features three specific locations designated for Straight Mode usage. These zones are positioned along the primary start/finish straight, between Turn 3 and Turn 4, and between Turn 11 and Turn 12.
