The HotelPlanner Tour season concludes this week with the Grand Final, featuring a field that includes a former Ryder Cup player, past tournament winners, and former LIV golfers all chasing promotion to the DP World Tour, as reported by Sky Sports.
The Road to Mallorca Rankings and What is at Stake
This year marks the 31st edition of the HotelPlanner Tour Grand Final, bringing an end to the feeder circuit’s 28-event season. The tournament also concludes the Road to Mallorca Rankings, with the top 45 golfers in the standings competing for a coveted DP World Tour card for next season. At the conclusion of the event, the top 15 players in the standings will earn promotion. With 4,000 ranking points up for grabs—including 640 for the winner, 440 for second, and 280 for third—every single player in the 45-man field has a mathematical chance of securing a card. American Alex Goff enters the week as the lowest-ranked player in the field with 447.30 points, while England’s Matthew Southgate holds the final qualifying spot in 15th, leaving a 243.55-point gap that Goff could bridge with a victory. A prize fund of £418,000 (€500,000) is also on the line at Club de Golf Alcanada on Mallorca’s south-east coast, which has hosted the event for the past five years.
Contenders and Notable Players in the Field
Hamish Brown leads the Road to Mallorca Rankings entering the week, bolstered by a victory at the penultimate event, the Hangzhou Open, on October 18. Swedish golfer Christofer Blomstrand and Lars Van der Vight sit in second and third place, respectively, and look to overtake Brown for the top spot. Meanwhile, Tapio Pulkkanen enters fifth in the standings, aiming to become the first player to win the tour’s order of merit twice after previously finishing No 1 in 2017. Former Ryder Cup player Chris Wood, who competed in the 2016 event and featured in January’s LIV Golf Promotions tournament after losing his DP World Tour playing rights in 2022, starts the week ranked 37th. Three other former LIV golfers join him in the field: Dominic Foos and John Catlin, ranked 31st and 41st, alongside Frederik Kjetterup, who was relegated from LIV Golf in 2025 following a stint with Cleeks GC. Past Grand Final champions who successfully graduated to the DP World Tour include Thomas Bjorn in 1995, Edoardo Molinari in 2009, Tommy Fleetwood in 2011, Marco Penge in 2023, and Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen in 2024.
Fans can watch the conclusion of the HotelPlanner Tour season live on Sky Sports, with the first three rounds broadcast from 11am on Sky Sports Golf and Sunday’s final-round coverage beginning at 10.30am on the same channel.
