Golden Knights Start Adin Hill After Carter Hart Injury

LAS VEGAS — The Vegas Golden Knights goaltender Carter Hart departed from the team’s morning skate due to an undisclosed injury, paving the way for Adin Hill to take the net for Tuesday night’s matchup against the Ottawa Senators.

Goaltending Situation

“He’s in good hands,” coach Ryan Craig stated. “We’ve got a plan here moving forward either way. We’ll be ready for tonight.”

Hart holds a 4-3-1 record this season, accompanied by a 2.76 goals-against average and an .889 save percentage. He has shared a significant portion of the goaltending duties with Hill, who enters the game at 4-1 with a 2.95 goals-against average and an .882 save percentage.

Both netminders have encountered health setbacks over the course of recent campaigns. Hart was sidelined for nearly three months during the previous season due to a left leg injury and was initially projected to serve as Hill’s backup during the playoffs.

Following the dismissal of then-coach Bruce Cassidy with eight games remaining in the schedule, interim coach John Tortorella opted to start Hart. Hart responded by spurring a late regular-season push, subsequently posting a 12-4 record through the opening three playoff rounds alongside a 2.22 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage.

Postseason struggles and background

However, Hart encountered difficulties in the Stanley Cup Final against Carolina, making history as the first goaltender to concede at least four goals in each of the first five games. The Hurricanes ultimately clinched the series in six games.

Hart’s arrival in Vegas drew widespread debate across the hockey community and the broader public. He stood as one of five members of the 2018 Canada world junior roster who were acquitted of sexual assault charges last July.

The NHL subsequently determined that these athletes were permitted to sign contracts starting Oct. 15, 2025, and return to game action beginning Dec. 1. Following this ruling, Hart finalized a two-year, $4 million agreement with the Golden Knights.

Adin Hill will guard the net for the Golden Knights in Tuesday’s game against the Ottawa Senators.
