The upcoming UFC 334 card received a late booking as the promotion secured a new opponent for top bantamweight prospect Juan Diaz. Originally, Diaz was scheduled to face UFC veteran Adrian Yanez, but an injury forced Yanez to withdraw from the event.
New Opponent Confirmed for New York Event
According to reporting by Heavy.com’s Marcel Dorff, Diaz will now square off against Alatengheili at UFC 334. The event is scheduled to take place on November 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, New York.
Diaz, who is 28 years old, secured his UFC contract in 2025 by defeating Won Il Kwon via a knockout using a spinning back elbow on Dana White’s Contender Series. He subsequently made his promotional debut in May 2025 at a UFC Fight Night, pulling off an upset submission victory over Malcolm Wellmaker to elevate his professional mixed martial arts record to 16-1-1.
Prospect Faces Experienced Test
Following his breakout win against Wellmaker, UFC matchmakers slated Diaz against Yanez for what was expected to be an exciting matchup between two dynamic fighters. Following Yanez’s withdrawal, the promotion successfully arranged a late-notice replacement in Alatengheili.
Alatengheili enters the matchup following a split-decision victory over John Castaneda in September. Bringing substantial UFC experience, Alatengheili presents a significant test for Diaz as he continues establishing himself in the Octagon, though Diaz is widely expected to enter the bout as the favorite.
UFC 334 features a heavyweight championship headliner between titleholder Ciryl Gane and challenger Josh Hokit, alongside a co-main event matching women’s bantamweight champion Kayla Harrison against Amanda Nunes. The event stands as one of the strongest fight cards of the year as the promotion approaches the conclusion of its 2026 schedule ahead of the holiday break.
