Chiefs-Broncos Week 8 Injury Report: Rashee Rice Returns

The Kansas City Chiefs released their final official injury report ahead of Sunday afternoon’s matchup against the Denver Broncos, featuring the anticipated return of wide receiver Rashee Rice.

Kansas City Chiefs Injury Report

Cornerback Mansoor Delane is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury after unexpectedly missing practice on Thursday and Friday. Head coach Andy Reid stated that the issue involves the same shoulder Delane has dealt with since training camp, which previously caused him to miss games in Weeks 1 and 2.

Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed is listed as questionable with a knee injury. Sneed had limited participation in practice for two days and missed Wednesday due to an NIR/personal designation, though he is frequently listed as limited because of an ongoing knee condition.

Defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott was ruled out with a knee injury despite three days of limited practice. Norman-Lott was designated to return from the Physically Unable to Perform list on Wednesday and will continue his 21-day practice window before the team must add him to the active 53-man roster.

Defensive end R Mason Thomas is listed as questionable with a personal issue after missing Friday’s practice. However, Andy Reid announced that Thomas will meet the squad in Denver and is expected to play.

Wide receiver Rashee Rice carries no game designation after upgrading to full practice participation on Friday. Rice has been sidelined since tweaking his hamstring in Week 4, but he is set to make his comeback on the field in Denver.

Tight end Travis Kelce also has no game status designation after practicing fully on Friday following a limited session on Thursday. Kelce sustained an ankle knock during the Week 6 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Several players participated fully in practice throughout the entire week: right tackle Jaylon Moore (concussion), left tackle Kahlil Benson (ankle), linebacker Nick Bolton (neck), center Creed Humphrey (toe), linebacker Drue Tranquill (elbow), and quarterback Patrick Mahomes (knee).

Denver Broncos Injury Report

Starting safety Talanoa Hufanga has not practiced all week and remains sidelined with an ankle injury sustained after leaving the Week 5 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. Hufanga currently shares the team lead with two interceptions—including one returned for a touchdown—alongside three passes defended, one forced fumble, and three tackles for loss.

Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle sustained a chest injury during the Week 7 victory over the Arizona Cardinals and returned to practice on Thursday in a limited capacity.

All-Pro cornerback Patrick Surtain II has not appeared in a game since injuring his ankle in Week 4, but he participated fully in practice all week and is anticipated to take the field.

Pro Bowl defensive lineman Zach Allen, who has recorded 4.5 sacks this season, returned to practice Thursday on a limited basis after managing a hamstring issue that has not yet caused him to miss any playing time.

Running back RJ Harvey and starting safety Brandon Jones were both listed as limited participants for Thursday’s practice after having no designation on Wednesday. Harvey has accumulated 304 total yards and two touchdowns this year, while Jones intercepted Mahomes in Week 1 and ranks second on the Denver defense in total tackles.

The chart will be updated with the final injury report when it becomes available.
