Alexander Volkov recently explained his decision to gatecrash the UFC 333 press conference, noting that UFC CEO Dana White still failed to provide a clear answer regarding his path to a title shot.
Uninvited Appearance at the Press Conference
Volkov detailed how he ended up at the event after noticing his exclusion from the official lineup. “I saw they didn’t have me on the press conference again, the same as the last three fights. I don’t know why. I just went through the regular gates like a regular fan… I had some questions for the fighters and Dana White,” Volkov stated as reported by Sherdog.com.
The heavyweight fighter expressed doubt that the promotion’s leadership even knew who he was during the interaction. “Of course he didn’t recognize me… I’m not even sure he can remember my name, and I bet every time he hears my name, he thinks they’re talking about Alexander Volkanovski,” Volkov told Sherdog.com.
Searching for Title Contention Answers
According to Volkov, the confrontation ultimately yielded no clarity on what steps he needs to take next within the division. “But to talk seriously, he still didn’t have an answer to my question. I’m asking, what should I do? What am I supposed to do to get a title fight? And they don’t have an answer,” Volkov told Sherdog.com.
