15-Year-Old Arrested in Florida A&M Shooting That Wounded 11

A 15-year-old will face charges as an adult following a weekend shooting that wounded 11 people at Florida A&M University after the institution’s homecoming football game, law enforcement officials announced Monday.

The Shooting and Arrest

Investigators determined that a physical altercation preceded the gunfire Saturday night, and police stated that none of the victims appeared to be intended targets. The youngest person wounded in the incident is 11 years old.

Police arrested Anthony Rivers III on Sunday, slapping him with charges of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a delinquent. Court documents did not reveal whether Rivers has secured an attorney to speak on the allegations.

During a brief court appearance Monday, a judge ordered Rivers to remain incarcerated. State Attorney Jack Campbell stated that prosecutors intend to transfer the case to adult court.

Campbell noted that surveillance footage captured a portion of the shooting, though authorities continue to search for additional video evidence and urge witnesses to come forward to help reconstruct the events.

Chaos Outside the Stadium

The violence broke out near a street corner just outside Bragg Memorial Stadium following Florida A&M’s defeat against Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Eleven individuals sustained gunshot wounds, while an additional person—the grandmother of one of the victims—suffered injuries while fleeing the scene. Police confirmed that six of the wounded individuals were minors.

Tallahassee Police Chief Lawrence Revell explained that the vicinity was extremely congested with crowds, preventing ambulances from reaching the exact location of the shooting.

Officers manually carried the injured victims through the dense crowds to waiting emergency vehicles so they could be transported to hospitals. Revell emphasized that the gunfire originated from a localized dispute involving only a small number of individuals. Investigators are actively searching for other potential participants, and further arrests remain possible.

Authorities reported that at least three victims sustained serious injuries, with one person listed in critical condition as of Sunday, though officials have not provided subsequent updates on their medical status.

Social media footage captured crowds scattering in panic as the incident unfolded in an area packed with attendees leaving the football game and homecoming festivities.
