Canucks Approach Unwanted Winless Streak Record Again

The Vancouver Canucks are currently inching dangerously close to matching their lengthy winless streak from the previous season. Following a recent defeat against the Minnesota Wild, the team sits just one game away from hitting the 11-game mark without a victory.

Approaching Unwanted Franchise History

During the 2025–26 campaign, the Canucks tied their franchise’s third-longest winless streak by reaching 11 consecutive games without a win. That previous slide started on December 30 with a 6–3 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers and concluded when the team secured its first victory of the calendar year against the Washington Capitals on January 21.

Although external expectations for Vancouver were modest entering the 2026–27 season, the start of the year has proven difficult. After recording their 10th consecutive game without a win on Sunday against the Minnesota Wild, the squad finds itself on the brink of repeating last year’s negative milestone in under a year.

According to the NHL, a winless streak encompasses any stretch of games where a team fails to register a win, which includes losses in both overtime and shootouts. Conversely, the league defines a losing streak strictly as a period where a team does not earn even a single point, thereby excluding results that extend past regulation.

Recent Schedule and Upcoming Matchup

Vancouver’s most recent victory took place on October 3 against the Calgary Flames, which was nearly a month ago. Their latest trip past regulation occurred on October 15 during a 3–2 overtime defeat against the Florida Panthers, bringing their current losing streak to four games.

At the beginning of this ongoing winless run, the Canucks arguably showed sufficient effort to secure at least one victory, even though the final outcomes did not favor them. Most of the team’s stronger performances have materialized on a period-by-period basis rather than lasting a full 60 minutes.

A defeat against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday would tie the current Vancouver roster with last year’s team—as well as the 1979–80 squad—for the third-longest winless streak in club history. The longest winless streak in the franchise remains held by the 1973–74 team, which endured 13 consecutive games without a win.
