The Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List (CPL) has returned to rank the top 44 prospects in the San Francisco Giants farm system. Following a difficult 2026 season for the Major League franchise, the community-driven project kicks off its offseason journey to evaluate the organization’s young talent.
Prospect List Format and Voting Guidelines
As reported by sports.yahoo.com, voting posts will generally be published every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, with polls remaining open until the subsequent post. Due to bot concerns, all voting takes place directly in the comment section utilizing the recommendation feature, requiring participants to be logged in.
The process begins with seven nominees, and new players will be introduced once voting narrows down to four prospects. Participants can use a designated top comment to nominate new players or recommend existing suggestions by hitting the recommendation button to ensure the top four vote-getters advance to the next list.
Eligibility Rules and Notable Graduates
All players within the organization maintaining rookie eligibility qualify for the list, including those on the 40-man roster or projected for the Opening Day active roster, except for MLB-ready international free agents under the Jung Hoo Lee exception. In the event of a tie, a runoff post will be held, with the runner-up also earning a spot.
Players who graduated during the previous season and are no longer eligible include Victor Bericoto, Drew Cavanaugh, Jonah Cox, Bryce Eldridge, Trent Harris, Turner Hill, Trevor McDonald, Jesús Rodríguez, Carson Seymour, Dylan Smith, Daniel Susac, Blade Tidwell, and Carson Whisenhunt.
Fans are encouraged to head to the comment section to nominate players for the opening chapter while acknowledging past contributors and community resource Roger Munter, as noted by sports.yahoo.com.
